Ah, push it
Ah, push it
Oooh, baby, baby... Baby, baby
Get up on this!
Ow! Baby! Salt and Pepa's here!
(Now wait a minute, y'all; This dance ain't for everybody
Only the sexy people
So all you fly mothers, get on out there and dance
Dance, I said!)
Salt and Pepa's here, and we're in effect
Want you to push it, babe
Coolin' by day then at night working up a sweat
C'mon girls, let's go show the guys that we know
How to become number one in a hot party show
Now push it
Ah, push it - push it good
Ah, push it - push it real good
Ah, push it - push it good
Ah, push it - p-push it real good
Hey! Ow!
Push it good!
Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby
Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby
Push it good
Push it real good
Ah, push it
Ah, push it
Yo, yo, yo, yo, baby-pop
Yeah, you come here, give me a kiss
Better make it fast or else I'm gonna get pissed
Can't you hear the music's pumpin' hard like I wish you would?
Now push it
Push it good
Push it real good
Push it good
P-push it real good
Ah, push it
Get up on this!
Boy you really got me going
You got me so I don't know what I'm doing
Ah, push it
“Push It” is one of Salt-n-Pepa’s well-known hit songs.
It peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on Billboard’s Rap Songs chart.
It was also nominated for a Grammy Award and made their “Hot, Cool and Vicious” album go Platinum which made them the first female rap act to go Platinum or Gold.

This line is repeatedly sampled from James Brown’s I’m A Greedy Man.
Let’s be honest: it’s usually the girls who get the dance party started.
Here, Salt and Pepa are calling for the ladies to lead the way to the dance floor and show off their moves for all of the guys who are presumably just standing there watching.
This sentence is a double entendre:
They’re in a club, drinking and they’ve asked the guy to come and give them a kiss. But he’d better hurry up or she’s gonna get pissed.
Pissed can mean to be get overly drunk, or that she’s going to get pissed off (annoyed) at being kept waiting.
“Push it” is ostensibly referring to particularly sweaty, active dance moves and as is common with such lyrics, the metaphor is (not so subtly) a demand for equally sweaty, active sexual activities. In this line, Salt & Pepa are informing their prospective lover that they would like him to be “pumpin' hard” just like hard bass of the club music they are currently pushin' it to.
This line also alludes to the song “You Really Got Me Going” by the Kinks. The lyrics to that song go
Girl, you really got me goin'
You got me so I don’t know what I’m doin'"
This means that the boy is so good at what he does in bed that she is forgetting what she’s doing.
