Reports: Hijacked plane lands at Cyprus airport

A hijacked passenger plane landed at Larnaca airport in Cyprus on Tuesday, according to media reports.

The EgyptAir plane was hijacked while flying from the coastal city of Alexandria in Egypt to Cairo with a bomb suspected to be aboard, the Associated Press reported.

The airline confirmed the aircraft was hijacked in a tweet and said it would issue a statement.

The Egyptian aviation authority said in a statement that the Airbus is carrying 55 passengers and five crew members, according to the AP.
